The present study addresses the occurrence of G82S RAGE polymorphism in Alzheimer’s disease, and its association with the expression of sRAGE and amyloid beta load (Aβ peptide). This article reports the diagnosis of Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis Type 2 in a four and a half year old girl from Jammu and Kashmir. A “Bottom-up Approach” design was used for the diagnosis of this disease.Next generation sequencing confirmed a missense variation in exon 8 of TPP1 gene. This study also establishes the effectiveness of the “Bottom-up Approach” in understanding rare disorders in low resource regions.

Pierre Robin sequence with a novel mutation in SOX9 gene: Case study

This study reports the case of diagnosing a four day old male neonate with Pierre Robin syndrome without any familial history of congenital anomalies. Molecular analysis was performed by extraction of DNA followed by sequencing the SOX9 gene. During the analysis of the sequence a mutation was found in exon 1 of the SOX9 gene suggesting that the gene SOX9 has a role to play in the disorder.
